Solar Powered Games is an independent game development studio from the South of Germany, founded by Nico and Markus Grupp.

History

How Solar Powered Games came to be

Solar Powered Games was founded in 2014 as a father-and-son cooperation. Nico had over 3 years of experience in game design, but with his master's degree in media computer science, he was also willing to take up the challenge of coding. Markus is an architect by profession (for buildings, not for software), and he is responsible for the level design of the studio's first project, "Highrisers". It comes in handy that the whole game takes place in various skyscrapers. He has also been a succesful businessman in various fields of trade; the latest being the production of clean, renewable energy through photovoltaics. In the end, this field was eponymous for the enterprise, as a certain correlation between the weather and the game are undeniable: The more sunny days there are in southern Germany, the more money there is for features and content for our projects.
